I have acquired my 996 C4 in june 2004: the vendor had guaranteed to me that the tires were new. I know that this type of tires have limited duration (2 years), and that between little time I would have had to replace them.
At the end of August I was driving on the freeway Genoa - Milan to approximately 265 Km/h and, without warning, the car began derapage towards the external side of one a skillful curve, with a strong noise and one strongest vibration. I succeeded to maintain the car in road, and to stop me to the service station after 1 km. An outrider strip had been detached from the left posterior tire, and was "spanking" catalyst and mudguard.
I did'nt knew, and now I know, that every tire has written on his side an acronym that says week and year of production
: on the tires Bridgestone of my car is written "26 01"!!! 5 years old!
My 996 is in garage from one month, in the wait of having the money to change its shoes.
I say thanks to the Gods for to be still alive, and I say to everyone: control immediately the age of your tires, and remember that the tires for high speed must
be replaced after 2 years, independently from the km covered!
Sorry for my bad language.
